The goal of that site is sharing and exchanging existing ideas and hopefully creating new ones about autism and other deviations from the norm. Discussing possible nature and purpose of those deviations rather than calling them sickness and trying to make them normal by any means.

Dear visitors!

On that site you can find information about autism, which could be interesting for professionals, parents and just anyone curious and some ideas why it is skyrocketing. Most of the material was devoted to a harmless and creative system TPB , which could be used for children and adults with special needs. Here is an explanation of different pages:
Published Articles” - articles, published in academic journals by professional language;
Unpublished articles” - material, written in easy form and approach;
TPB articles" written in professional form presenting theory of the system, explaining in detail connection theory and practice;
TPB stories” easily written functional stories about how the system could work in different life situations - fun reading;
Some stories are based on real work with kids, which you can find in kid’s home and in residence folders;
Life stories tells about TPB advantages in different countries;
"Projects” suggest different activities ideas for parents and professionals to use with kids;

Who am I?

Hello! I am one of the an authors of TPB system.
For twenty years in the USA I used to work under many different titles, which by its core could be named as a Professional Parent for special children. I was taking care of the children’s basic needs and taught them basic things , useful for life. That is what parents usually do. I had worked with kids of different levels of development which had different problems, but mostly non-verbal low-functioning autistic children. I fell in love with non-verbal communication and I saw a lot of surprises and sometimes miracles

Unlike real parents I was free from worries connected to a child’s future, the cause of the child's condition, family life circumstances and other things. Unlike professionals I was free from following certain methods or techniques. I was free to approach a child with the mind free from with textbook's knowledge and view from the diseases's perspective. I could concentrate on the child only, taking knowledge from the most reliable source. I could focus only on a goal to make the best for a certain child in at a certain time in a certain curcumstances.

As a former child’s photographer, naturally I started to bring photography into kids' everyday lives. Every child's story is totally different, because kids are so different. Years later I started to see patterns of approach and could describe what I was doing. From learning kids personalities and the way they function and communicate the whole system was developed, which was described in journal’s articles and books, which I called Thematic Photobooks system or TPB system
The idea of the TPB system lives in my mind and grows there as a child grows. It is coming out step by step on different levels-recreational, educational, psychological, philosophical...
It was created completely from observation, analysing, experimenting and most important from direct interacting with kids. Then it came out that the practical TPB system corresponded with ideas of Lev Vygotsky and other soviet psychologists. It is logical as I came from a Soviet mentality and did not rush to transform myself. In American text books I've read that Vygotsky’s approach will come up in the future, after the "behavioural psychology" would leave its leadership

When I just had started the Process, photography was not so popular as it now. Photos of people’s everyday lives are everywhere! But TPB system still is not helping the kids the way it could and should help. Some professionals use the system on their programs, but my real intention always was using it in families, so a child could create something together with parents, who are the most important people in children lives and that connection accompanies every person through the whole life

So far the main appreciators of my work are mostly kids. They always willingly cooperate with my ideas, they support me and they give me great eye contact. Often, while Professionals work hard to receive eye contact from a child I just have it without any my effort. Something to think about!

As kids I communicate with are usually non-verbal and cannot explain things, so I need to think for them myself. They certainly feel and probably know a lot more than us about many things. They let me know about that.

Unfortunately the Environment doesn't want to cooperate so far. I described that in "TPB's Adventures in the world" Maybe the lack of real honest cooperation is explained by the wrong time for those who managed Environment and the progress is limited objectively. My partners-kids and myself certainly cannot do much. So far we need to exercise patience and continue work in accessible forms. This site is one of those forms for creating ideas for building The Bridge of Unity and Equality.
