Dear Parents!
This site introduces you to a system of creating thematic PhotoBooks (TPB system), the result of 20 years working experience with special needs children in various USA adaptation programs. Most experience was with children of low intellectual development and concomitant diseases; some could not move freely, many were non-verbal .
I have always been amazed by their characters; willingness for cooperation, desire for progress and joy from achievements. It supported and inspired me all these years in difficult situations. They were my main and best partners in creating the TPB system.
As a former child photographer it was natural for me to apply photography in children’s everyday life and results surprised me. From practical work slowly the system was created, which academic journals in the USA and Russia accepted for publications. The theoretical basis for my practical work I found in ideas of L. S. Vygotsky and the Theory of Activity. That is not a surprise, considering my own Soviet upbringing.
Professionals have an interest and use it for their work. I believe parents are the most important people in any child's life, and have the biggest effect. Most material on this site was created from parents’ perspective.
